Why We Built DealCycl

Our Story
We spent our careers in security, privacy, governance, risk, and compliance — building platforms for the biggest banks on Wall Street, architecting RSA Archer, and co-founding Lockpath, a GRC platform we scaled to a PE-backed exit.
After Lockpath, we both spent significant time on the private markets side — working with emerging startups, seed-stage VCs, private equity firms, due diligence processes, cap tables, and investor reporting. What we saw was striking: private companies were struggling with a complete lack of the tools and processes that larger public companies had long taken for granted.
Then in January 2024, the dominant cap table provider was caught using confidential data to cold-contact investors about selling their shares — without asking, without permission. It confirmed what we already knew: this industry needed a platform built by people who actually understand data security at an institutional level.
So we built DealCycl — a unified platform for private companies, the investors who back them, and the bankers who help them exit. The Founding Team
Chris Goodwin
CEO & Co-Founder
Chris Goodwin is the CEO and co-founder of DealCycl. He was the lead architect of RSA Archer, one of the most widely deployed governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms in enterprise security. He co-founded Lockpath and served as CTO, overseeing engineering, infrastructure, and security as the company scaled to a PE-backed acquisition by NAVEX Global.
Before DealCycl, Chris spent 20+ years building security platforms for Wall Street banks and Fortune 500 companies. He entered private markets as both an operator and investor, and saw firsthand the gap between the institutional-grade data governance standards he'd spent his career building and the tools available to startups managing their most sensitive data — their cap table.

COO & Co-Founder
Chris Caldwell is the COO and co-founder of DealCycl. He co-founded and served as CEO of Lockpath, a governance, risk, and compliance platform that he grew from inception to a PE-backed acquisition by NAVEX Global.
As CEO at Lockpath, Chris oversaw product strategy, sales, and operations — building the company into a leader in enterprise GRC serving Fortune 500 clients who demanded the highest standards of data governance and security. He brings that same leadership and operational rigor to DealCycl, where the goal is to give startup founders the same level of data control that the largest institutions expect.
